Di Marzio report that Manchester United have identified Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as a potential striker target, following another injury to Anthony Martial.

Chelsea are pushing to complete a deal for Aubameyang, who currently plays for Barcelona, following his move from Arsenal in the January transfer window. But they haven’t reached an agreement, leaving the door open to United.

Thomas Tuchel is reportedly driving Chelsea’s interest, having worked with Aubameyang before at Borussia Dortmund.

Talks between Aubameyang’s camp and Chelsea haven’t caused any problems, so it seems the player’s Arsenal links aren’t going to stop him from joining one of the Gunners’ direct rivals.

The only problem for Chelsea has been finding an agreement with Barcelona, who reportedly want as much as €30m (£25.5m).

Chelsea are unwilling to pay that, but United rejoining the race may force their hand a bit.

Barcelona have financial difficulties and a new striker, having signed Robert Lewandowski this summer. They’ll probably be keen enough to sell eventually, whether to Chelsea or United.

With only days left in the window, it won’t be long until this saga reaches a conclusion.
