James Olayinka is still on the lookout for a new club in the final week of the transfer window, after a strong start to his u21 season.

All Nigeria Soccer report that James Olayinka is still looking for a new club to join. The same outlet previously wrote that Arsenal are planning to loan or sell the youth midfielder, and he’s been offered out to teams in the English lower leagues.

Olayinka isn’t in Mikel Arteta’s plans for the coming campaign, which is presumably in part because he’s no longer eligible for the u21 list at Arsenal.

He’d have to be registered in the main Premier League squad if he stuck around, and senior squad spots are in short supply.

U21 head coach Mehmet Ali recently confirmed that the plan was to ship Olayinka out this summer.

“[Olayinka’s] come far because he works hard every single day,” Ali said. “It’s no coincidence. The work he’s doing every single day, putting in the hours, the training, being fully committed to what he’s doing is why he’s getting the rewards.

“Hopefully, again, he can go out and go and further his career somewhere.”

The midfielder has been one of the Arsenal u21s’ best players in the first few weeks of the season. He has two goals and three assists in the opening three Premier League 2 games of the campaign, an excellent return for a midfielder.

With Olayinka playing alongside Matt Smith and Miguel Azeez, the Arsenal midfield simply looks too good for u21 football. It’s not surprising the young Gunners have a 100% record so far this season.

Arguably, all three of them need to go out and experience senior football again this campaign. They’re running out of time to make that happen.
