Galatasaray have officially confirmed the fee and wages they’re paying to Arsenal and Lucas Torreira for his permanent summer transfer.

After completing the transfer of Lucas Torreira, Galatasaray had to publicly announce the details of the move to the market, allowing us to confirm exactly how much the player and Arsenal will receive.

Arsenal are set to receive €6m (£5.07m) upfront, according to the statement, which tallies with reports on the deal leading up to the announcement.

The Evening Standard had claimed Arsenal would receive £5m with £2.5m in add-ons, which looks to be correct, though Galatasaray haven’t confirmed the size of the add-ons.

Torreira has signed a four-year deal with his new club, and he’ll earn €2.75m per season. That’s £2.32m every year, or just under £45,000 per week.

That ~£5m fee is the largest known fee a Turkish club has ever paid to Arsenal.

The Gunners received around £2.25m for Lukas Podolski in 2016, £3.15m for Emmanuel Eboue in 2012, and up to £1.44m in bonus payments for Mesut Özil from Fenerbahce (there was no upfront fee, and it’s unlikely he hit many of those bonuses).

“I am very happy and excited to be a new Galatasaray player,” Torreira wrote on Twitter.

“I am convinced that this is the beginning of a long and successful history together. Thank you for trusting me and I promise to leave everything for these colors. Let’s go Gala!”
