David Ornstein has given an update on Arsenal’s transfer situation ahead of the final few weeks of the summer window.

Speaking to NBC Sports, David Ornstein reported that Arsenal still want to do more business this summer. The club are looking to sign a winger before the summer deadline, but an incoming in that position may depend on Nicolas Pepe leaving the club.

Ornstein added that Arsenal are also interested in Youri Tielemans, and Leicester City would sell, but once again, that may require a Gunners sale first.

Arsenal’s other summer priority is reportedly a new contract for Bukayo Saka.

As it stands, therefore, Arsenal are evidently not close to a new signing or contract announcement. They’re working on deals in the background, but we haven’t even reached the point where the potential winger signing’s identity is publicly known.

Considering the apparent lack of external interest in Pepe, the condition of his departure also feels like a pretty major roadblock.

Negotiating a deal to sign a top winger is hard enough in the current market, but simultaneously relying on the sale of a player on high wages who isn’t getting offers makes it even more difficult.

The positive angle on the update is obviously that Arsenal are still trying to get more business done. They evidently haven’t shut up shop after their first five signings, and perhaps we could see another late addition in the coming weeks.
