Auston Trusty made his competitive debut in English football over the weekend, appearing for Birmingham City away to Luton Town.

The match finished 0-0, with the Arsenal loan centre-back making seven clearances, blocking two shots, making two tackles, and winning nine of his 15 individual duels.

Trusty even added something in possession, creating a chance and completing both of his attempted dribbles.

The Birmingham fans were certainly impressed, as they chanted “USA” at multiple points during the match in recognition of the new signing’s performance.

The Championship isn’t always the easiest league to settle in, as the quality of competition is high for a second-tier division, and the physicality can require some adjusting.

It’s always easier when you make a strong start and get the fans on your side, and Trusty will hope he’s done that now.

Writing on social media after the game, Trusty said: “What a feeling being in that atmosphere. Looking forward to more battles.”

The defender will now get the chance to make his competitive home debut against Huddersfield Town on Friday, 5th August at 19:45 BST.

As Arsenal fans will be tuning in to watch their season-opener against Crystal Palace that night, most of them will have to wait on the assessment of the Birmingham City fans once again.
