Hector Bellerin is hoping to terminate his contract with Arsenal and complete a transfer to Real Betis in the next day or two.
TodoFichajes report that Hector Bellerin’s future will be resolved over the next day, with the player and his agent meeting with Arsenal to confirm the termination of his contract with the Gunners.
Bellerin would also then have to lower his wages to join Real Betis as a free agent, which he’s hoping to do in the coming days. But that’s reportedly not a major issue.
Matteo Moretto reported on Monday morning that Hector Bellerin’s representative would fly to London in the following few hours to sort out his future.
Moretto claimed the agent was set for a key meeting with Arsenal, as Bellerin’s camp aim to secure a transfer for as little money as possible. A contract termination and free transfer is clearly the best-case scenario for them.
The 27-year-old is evidently not in real contention to play for Arsenal this season. Though he played some part in pre-season, he wasn’t even in the squad to face Crystal Palace on Friday.
Mikel Arteta has so many options at right-back now. Takehiro Tomiyasu is probably the first choice when he’s fit, but Ben White has been playing in the position lately.
Then there’s Cedric Soares, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, youth prospects Reuell Walters and Brooke Norton-Cuffy.
Even if Bellerin, Maitland-Niles, and Norton-Cuffy (loan) all leave this summer, Arsenal will still have plenty of alternatives in all competitions.
