Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s move to Chelsea is still on, but there’s no agreement and his broken jaw is likely to keep him out for weeks.

David Ornstein reports for The Athletic that Chelsea are continuing talks over the potential signing of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang today, but they still have no agreement with Barcelona or Aubameyang himself.

Barcelona are looking for a fee beyond what Chelsea are willing to pay, and Chelsea have failed to reach an agreement with Aubameyang on his contract length.

Then there’s the additional problem of Aubameyang’s reported broken jaw, suffered during a recent home invasion. Though that’s not threatening to end the deal completely, it’s making it more complicated.

Chelsea and Barcelona have also started to discuss a potential loan move ahead of Thursday’s deadline.

Ornstein makes no mention of Manchester United, so it seems their interest isn’t currently progressing into anything serious.

The reporter previously wrote that Chelsea have doubts over the signing, as they’re unsure whether a deal for Aubameyang represents good value given his age and high salary.

If they do sign the striker, Chelsea would reportedly want to structure his contract to include performance incentives.

Barcelona have financial difficulties and a new striker, having signed Robert Lewandowski this summer. That seemingly paved the way for Aubameyang to leave. There’s now just one day remaining in the transfer window for a late breakthrough.
