Mikel Arteta is the second fastest Arsenal manager to reach 50 league wins with the club after his side’s 2-0 win over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Friday evening.

Arsenal got their 22/23 season off to a perfect start with a 2-0 win at a ground they lost 3-0 at last season.

That was Mikel Arteta’s 50th league win in charge of Arsenal in 98 games, a stat that is surprisingly close to Arsene Wenger’s record.

Wenger, of course, sits on top of the list as the fastest Arsenal manager to reach 50 wins in the Premier League.

It took the great man 94 games to reach his half-century of victories, and he didn’t have to contend with a pandemic.

It’s also worth noting that since Arteta was made manager of Arsenal only Pep Guardiola (70) and Jurgen Klopp (64) have won more than Arteta’s 50 games

Overall, Arteta has taken charge of 131 Arsenal games in all competitions, winning 74 (56.5%), drawing 20 and losing 37.

In those games, Arsenal have scored 227 and conceded 142.
