Arsenal are ready to wait to sign Youri Tielemans on a free transfer, as they feel Leicester City’s asking price is too high, according to a report.

Football.London report that Arsenal are prepared to be patient with Youri Tielemans, waiting for his contract to expire to secure his signature on a free transfer next summer.

Arsenal have reportedly had an agreement in place with the player for some time, but they feel Leicester City’s apparent demands of £32m are too high for a player with a year on his deal.

Unless other clubs make a serious move and force Arsenal’s hand, the Gunners are prepared to wait and bring the midfielder in for less.

On the other side of things, Tielemans’ relationship with Leicester remains strong. Though he’s keen to move to a top club this summer, it’s not impossible Leicester would try to extend his contract if that doesn’t happen.

So there’s still a lot of uncertainty on all sides right now. Ideally, the three parties would come to a compromise that suits them all, but that would probably require Leicester to lower their demands, which doesn’t seem hugely likely right now.

Reports have consistently suggested that Leicester are expecting a bid before the end of the window, but it seems Arsenal are ready to play hardball.

In the meantime, the Gunners have to play against Leicester at the weekend, with Tielemans likely to make the lineup for the away side at the Emirates Stadium.
