The Arsenal academy are back playing in the Premier League Cup again this year, and Swansea City have confirmed that they’ll be in a group with Arsenal, Stoke City, and Burnley.

At the time of writing, Arsenal are yet to confirm the news, so we don’t have full details on all of the fixtures.

But Swansea’s announcement tells us Arsenal will start the group with a home game against Swansea on Wednesday, August 17th, at 19:00 BST.

It remains to be seen whether Arsenal’s planned Premier League 2 fixture against Chelsea on Friday, August 19th will be moved as a result of the Swansea game. Perhaps that’s the reason for the delay in Arsenal’s announcement.

We also know Arsenal will play away to Swansea on Saturday, November 26th, at 2pm BST, in what looks to be the fourth round of the six-game group.

Arsenal had a mixed group stage in the Premier League Cup last season.

Kevin Betsy mostly used the competition for his fringe players, particularly during the early games when he didn’t have much choice – due to international youth call-ups for much of his side.

As a result, Arsenal only had two points after three games, but they turned things around with two wins in the final three matches to qualify for the knockout stages as group runners-up.

Unfortunately, they were then eliminated at the first hurdle by Middlesbrough on penalties, with Omari Hutchinson missing the crucial spot-kick after scoring a penalty during the 90.

New u21 head coach Mehmet Ali will hope for a more successful campaign this time around.
