Arsenal are exploring a deal for Mykhaylo Mudryk of Shakhtar Donetsk, making contact with his representatives in recent days.

Fabrizio Romano reports that Mykhaylo Mudryk is a player to keep an eye on in the final days of the transfer window, with Arsenal having explored the conditions of a deal on the player’s side a few days ago.

Many clubs are interested in the winger, and Everton have already seen a €30m verbal offer turn down by Shakhtar Donetsk.

David Ornstein confirms for The Athletic that Mudryk is among Arsenal’s candidates for a wide-forward signing, but the Gunners are unlikely to sign both a winger and a midfielder – it will probably be one or the other.

Ukrainian outlet Football24 report that Shakhtar want €35m for Mudryk, with a few days left until the summer deadline.

Media Foot were the first outlet to report on Arsenal’s interest in Mudryk earlier this month. They claimed that though the Gunners hadn’t submitted an offer, they were becoming more and more active on his case.

Mudryk scored twice and assisted nine goals in 19 appearances last season, a goal or assist every 79 minutes for Shakhtar Donetsk. He has an assist in his first couple of appearances of the new campaign as well.

The main question mark around the potential signing is the fact that Mudryk is a left-winger.

The suggestion was that Arsenal would be targeting right-wingers, from Raphinha to Pedro Neto, as alternatives to Bukayo Saka. Mudryk isn’t a natural option on that side, so it’s unclear who would end up providing cover on the right.

With that being said, Mudryk is clearly a talented winger. You wouldn’t blame Arsenal for trying to bring him in, even if he isn’t a perfect fit for the current squad vacancy.
