Arsenal are one of the clubs with an interest in Celtic midfielder Matt O’Riley, with a late move possible in the final week of the transfer window.

ESPN report that Celtic’s Matt O’Riley is attracting plenty of interest in the final week of the window, with Borussia Dortmund, Liverpool, Arsenal, and Manchester United all watching him.

Celtic don’t want to lose the 21-year-old, but a bid in the region of £15m-20m could tempt them. On the other hand, they believe his value will increase even further if he continues his form with them.

Newcastle United and Leicester City are reportedly the Premier League clubs most likely to make a move this week, but Arsenal are evidently somewhere in the mix, having also been linked with the same player five years ago.

O’Riley is a midfielder who has represented the England u18s and Denmark u21s internationally, whilst playing for Fulham, MK Dons, and Celtic at club level.

Fulham released O’Riley on a free transfer in the summer of 2020, after he decided against signing a new contract, and after a year with the MK Dons he moved on up to Scotland.

In his 24 appearances for Celtic so far, O’Riley has scored four goals and assisted three from midfield, and his team have won 18 of those 24 matches, drawing three and losing three.

Whether Arsenal are a realistic destination for O’Riley this summer remains to be seen, and it’s very possible Celtic opt to hold onto him for now.
