Nottingham Forest’s pursuit of Alex Moreno could be the first domino in a sequence that ends with Arsenal selling Hector Bellerin.

David Ornstein reports for The Athletic that Nottingham Forest are working on a move for left-back Alex Moreno, and they’re optimistic a deal can be struck.

Gonzalo Tortosa of El Chiringuito TV claims Betis are looking for a fee of €20-25m, money they’ll use to try and sign Houssem Aouar of Lyon and Hector Bellerin of Arsenal.

It’s been clear from the start that Betis were interested in Bellerin, and that he was open to a return but the question was always whether they could actually afford it.

A high-profile sale to a Premier League club could be just what they need to raise the funds.

Betis aren’t the only club interested in signing Bellerin, with Atletico Madrid also holding initial talks. Atletico spoke with both Arsenal and Bellerin’s agent about the prospect of a transfer.

But both Atletico and Betis appear to be delaying a move, presumably to try and strengthen their negotiating position.

A Betis bid could force Atletico into action and get the transfer moving, so Arsenal will hope Forest’s deal for Moreno goes through quickly.

James Benge of CBS Sports wrote in mid-June that Bellerin is considering his summer options and not limiting himself to a Betis return alone.

Arsenal want a fee for his sale, so it’s up to the interested clubs to make a serious move.
