Mohamed Elneny’s dad believes his son will go on to become a coach at Arsenal, although whether he means head coach is not quite clear.

Mohamed Elneny’s six years at Arsenal have been strange.

Elneny, who has just turned 30, recently signed a new contract with Arsenal that will keep him at the club until 2023 (although it has an option for a further year).

A player who is always reliable, if only spectacular on the scoring front in pre-season, Elneny is someone who is very well liked around the club by coaches, players and fans alike.

Still, his time at the club has appeared finished on more than one occasion and had the club been able to find a buyer for him in the last three summer windows, he would no longer be with us.

But is Elneny likely to be involved with Arsenal for longer than anyone could have imagined? His father seems to think so.

“I was sure that Elneny would continue with Arsenal, and I told him that, even though everyone in Egypt was saying that he would leave the team this summer,” Nasser Elneny said.

“The Arsenal players love Elneny, he is loved among his colleagues in the dressing room, and the club’s management loves him, so I think he will coach Arsenal in the future.”

Whether or not Elneny does go on to coach Arsenal, we can see clearly that coaching is the direction he wants to take when he finally finishes playing.
