Lyon will seriously consider offers of £55m for Lucas Paqueta this summer, accepting that the player wants to leave in the current window.

CBS Sports’ Ben Jacobs reports that Lyon will consider offers of £55m for Lucas Paqueta, dropping their price tag from the £70m they were asking for in the January window.

Lyon accept the midfielder wants to leave and won’t stand in his way, as long as their terms are met.

Jacobs adds that Arsenal, Newcastle United, and AS Roma have all made enquiries, with Arsenal confident they can persuade the player. The Gunners are focusing on getting his go-ahead before making a bid.

But technical director Edu believes the £55m price is a bit inflated, and he won’t get sucked into a bidding war as he also explores other options.

UOL Esporte report that Arsenal appear to be the main candidate for Paqueta this summer, with talks already taking place between the Gunners and Lyon.

The two clubs are in no rush at the moment, with little competition for the signature and plenty of time remaining in the transfer window.

Meanwhile, Charles Watts of Goal reports on his YouTube channel that Paqueta’s camp believe Arsenal are set to make their opening bid for the player.

Watts suggests the midfielder could potentially fit in as the left-sided number eight in a 4-3-3.

Mostly playing in midfield for Lyon, Paqueta scored 11 goals and provided seven assists last campaign.

The Brazilian has a contract until 2025, so Lyon are in a strong position to hold out for their demands.
