Fabio Vieira is finally in training with Arsenal, and though he’s not quite fully fit yet, he’s raring to get going with the Gunners.

After spending the last few weeks on the sidelines waiting to get involved with Arsenal in training, new signing Fabio Vieira was finally out on the grass with a ball at his feet on Tuesday.

The player’s foot injury was sustained before he even joined the Gunners, as he picked up the issue on international duty with the Portugal u21s. He’s finally closing in on a return now.

“It’s a small injury I picked up one month ago with the national team but now I feel better and in a few days I’ll come back,” Vieira said.

“I’m really excited, I can’t wait to get started and play with our supporters at Emirates Stadium. It’s an honour for me to be here.”

It’s unlikely Vieira plays any part in the match against Orlando City on Wednesday night (local time), but it’s not impossible he makes an appearance on Saturday in the friendly against Chelsea.

Even if it’s just a few minutes off the bench, it would be encouraging for Vieira to make his debut before the end of the U.S. tour.

Arsenal only have one further pre-season game following the conclusion of the tour, playing against Sevilla in the Emirates Cup on Saturday, July 30th.

After that, the new season gets underway against Crystal Palace on August 5th.
