Ben White has returned to training with the Arsenal squad on tour, after missing their game against Everton at the weekend.
Following Arsenal’s victory against Everton, Mikel Arteta explained the absences of five of his first-team squad members for the match.
In Ben White’s case, Arteta explained that the centre-back had a muscular niggle. But the good news is that White was straight back into training this week.
Football.London report that White rejoined the group on Tuesday despite his recent struggles with a quad problem.
The 24-year-old ended the season amid an ongoing injury issue, missing matches against West Ham United and Leeds United before dropping to the bench for two of Arsenal’s final three games, and then pulling out of international duty with England.
Though White was involved in Arsenal’s opening pre-season match against Ipswich Town, he missed out against Nurnberg and Everton.
Of course, one of the advantages of pre-season is that there’s no real consequence to Arsenal if White misses a game or two.
Even if Arsenal had lost to Nurnberg and Everton, it wouldn’t really have mattered.
The only problem is for White himself, as he’s becoming more and more likely to lose his starting spot to William Saliba.
Just a few months away from the World Cup, White will want to be playing regularly for Arsenal this season. He needs to get fit and impress in the coming weeks, or that might not be the case.
