Arsenal’s defender, Rafaelle Souza, was celebrating Copa America success in the early hours of Sunday morning, with her teammate, Leah Williamson poised to captain England in the Euros final on Sunday evening.
In the early hours of Sunday morning, Rafaelle Souza captained Brazil to a 1-0 victory over Colombia in the final of the Copa America (that orange C armband isn’t actually the captain’s armband and is worn by a few of the players, Rafaelle’s captain’s armband was white as you can see more clearly in the photo below).
The only goal of the game was scored from the penalty spot, with Debinha slotting home in a hard-fought game.
The goal also helped her tie for joint-second place in the Golden Boot with five goals, one behind Argentina’s Yamila Rodriguez.
Not only did Brazil claim the trophy, Rafaelle helped guide her country to a 20-0 aggregate score over the course of six matches.
The victory could see Rafaelle line up against Leah Williamson in the near future.
Williamson will be hoping to captain England to Euro glory against Germany on Sunday evening.
The winners of that game will play Brazil at a date yet to be determined.
