Mikel Arteta was naturally delighted that his side put four past Chelsea at the Camping World Stadium in the early hours of Sunday morning but he also cautioned fans not to get too carried away just yet.

Arsenal ran out comfortable four nil winners over Chelsea in their penultimate pre-season friendly leaving many Arsenal fans excited for the season ahead that is now just around the corner.
To be honest, I’m not overly sure why we play Chelsea when they are incapable of playing in a ‘friendly’ manner, but, if this is what they bring to the 22/23 season, then I’m all for it.
Speaking to the media after the game, Mikel Arteta was asked if fans should be excited about this squad. “Yes, but it was a friendly match,” he replied.
“As you could see there are a lot of positives to take from the game. The way we played, the intensity we showed, the way we were trying to show who we are as a team. But at the same time, it’s just a test match.
“Don’t get carried away.

“There are still a lot of things that we have to get better at, and do better. But I think it’s good to get some momentum, finish the tour in the right way, give some enjoyment to our fans and everybody that’s been contributing to make this tour happen.
“Now it’s time to go back to London, to focus and keep making improvements and steps forwards.”
He was then asked if the result would have any impact on the club’s transfer business. “Nothing,” he said.
“Again, don’t get carried away. There were a lot of positives, there are a lot of things we can do much, much better than we have done today as well and we have to continue to improve as a team.”
