After returning to Brazil following a terrible time at Arsenal, Willian is now looking to leave Corinthians after an even worse time there.

26 appearances, one goal and three assists in his home country follows a season when he scored just one (with six assists) for Arsenal in 37 appearances.

In addition to a bad time on the pitch, Willian also received threats of violence (you can read about that more below) with the latest incident being reported to the police on 31 May.

Willian signed a contract until December 2023 and Corinthians have received no official proposals for the 33-year-old winger at the time of writing.

Willian under threat of violence

Former Arsenal and Chelsea winger, Willian, has had to change his daily routine due to threats of violence that he has received in Brazil.

After a 2-0 defeat against Always Ready from Bolivia in the Conmebol Libertadores, Willian was on the receiving end of some particularly nasty threats on social media and has, as a result, had to adjust his daily routine to keep himself and his family safe.

Willian is said to want to stay with Corinthians, however his wife and daughters are believed to be concerned with the rising level of violence in the country.

According to ESPN in Brazil, Willian’s daughters are even afraid to go to school while his wife opts to stay at home other than to go out for family commitments.

Willian has changed the car he uses to go to training and is being accompanied by a security guard.
