Arsenal have announced the signing of 28-year-old goalkeeper, Matt Turner, from New England Revolution.
Although we’ve all known this signing was done some time ago, Arsenal have finally announced the signing of the American goalkeeper who insists he is coming to Arsenal to push Aaron Ramsdale for the number one shirt.
In Arsenal’s announcement video, Turner said: “Obviously New Jersey is pretty far from North London. But watching Arsenal as a kid, I fell in love with the way the team plays and the values of this club.
“It felt like a long shot, but why not dream of putting my team’s shirt on one day? So I dedicated my life to working at my game and being the best player and person that I could be.
“I was able to realise a dream, and this is one of the best days of my life.”
Speaking to Arsenal.com, Mikel Arteta said, “Matt is an experienced goalkeeper who will bring high quality to our squad.
“He has shown with his performances in recent years in both the MLS and at international level with the United States that he is a goalkeeper who will give us added strength going into next season.
“We welcome Matt and his family to the club and we look forward to working together in the years to come.”
While Edu said, “We are delighted that Matt is joining us. Matt is a goalkeeper with established qualities and experience, who will be a great addition to our squad.
“We identified Matt some time ago and worked hard to ensure that his transfer was complete so he could join us in time for our pre-season in July. We now look forward to Matt joining us, settling into his new home, and working ahead of next season.”
