Just two days after his loan move to RKC Waalwijk was announced, Arsenal youth striker Mika Biereth was in their squad for a friendly match against Regioteam Waalwijk.

The match is a tradition, with RKC Waalwijk regularly kicking off their pre-season preparations by playing against a team composed of the best amateur Waalwijk players at the end of their own respective campaigns.

Saturday was seemingly too soon for Biereth to start, but he came off the bench at half-time and quickly made an impression.

After teammate David Min was brought down in the box a minute or so after the break, Biereth stepped up to the task and converted the penalty. It took less than two minutes for him to get on the scoresheet.

Biereth then added to the lead with a goal in the 81st minute, a header to make it 4-0. Waalwijk still had time to score one more goal in the 88th minute to wrap things up.

Biereth has been handed the number nine shirt with his loan side, a sign that they’re willing to trust him to lead the line on a regular basis this season.

With a couple of goals in his first game, Biereth has done nothing to hurt his chances of further opportunities to impress in the coming weeks.
