RMC Sport (via GFFN) report that Alexandre Lacazette was holding his medical with Lyon earlier today. Lyon have called a press conference tomorrow morning at 9am, which is widely expected to be when the transfer is made official.

Arsenal have already confirmed the player’s departure, as his contract was coming to an end this summer.

There was little doubt about Lacazette’s desination either, with L’Equipe reporting last week that Lyon had finally convinced their former striker to rejoin the club on a free transfer.

The two parties have agreed on a salary, reportedly with a 50% pay cut, and Lacazette has finally accepted the move, despite Lyon’s failure to qualify for European football.

Lyon bosses have been clear all year that a return for Lacazette was one of their primary goals.

“If we need to make compromises to get him, we will,” Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas said in May, with director of football Vincent Ponsot adding: “We will continue until the end, it’s a desire for us [to bring Lacazette back].”

Lacazette joined Arsenal from Lyon back in 2017, spending five years with the Gunners.

The striker made 206 appearances and scored 71 goals, and he’ll now return to Lyon – where he’s already racked up 275 appearances and 129 goals.
