Arsenal’s second bid for Leeds United winger Raphinha will be in the region of £50m, according to a report.

The Daily Mail write that Arsenal’s opening offer for Raphinha was around £30m plus a further £10m in add-ons.

But with Leeds rejecting the bid and suggesting it was well below their valuation, Arsenal are set to come back with a much-improved proposal.

The Gunners’ new bid will be closer to £50m. Leeds have reportedly set a valuation of £65m, but they won’t stand in Raphinha’s way if they receive a fair offer.

David Ornstein reports for The Athletic that Arsenal are indeed set to intensify their efforts to sign Raphinha next week.

There are further talks scheduled with the player’s representatives, and a growing sense at Arsenal and elsewhere that the Gunners are now the favourites for a deal.

Raphinha is reportedly open to a move, and Chelsea and Spurs are focusing on other targets – Raheem Sterling and Richarlison respectively.

Matteo Moretto and Toni Juanmarti reported this week that Arsenal and Leeds are making progress in talks, continuing to get closer to an agreement, but they don’t have one yet.

Arsenal are clearly looking to go big this summer, with Fabio Vieira and Marquinhos already joining, Gabriel Jesus and Matt Turner to follow, and further targets like Raphinha and Lisandro Martinez. Even Youri Tielemans isn’t off the table.

Getting the Jesus and Turner deals done and following them up with one or two more would leave the squad in a great position for the new season.
