Matteo Moretto and Toni Juanmarti report that Arsenal and Leeds United are in contact over a permanent deal for Raphinha. The clubs are making progress in talks, continuing to get closer to an agreement, but they don’t have one yet.

As things stand, Moretto writes that Arsenal are in pole position for the signing.

Sky Sports claim that after agreeing a fee with Manchester City for Gabriel Jesus, Arsenal are expected to go back in with an improved offer for Raphinha.

Fabrizio Romano adds that both Arsenal and Spurs are working on a deal, but no one has reached Leeds’ asking price of £65m yet. The next week could be crucial, with Barcelona and Chelsea currently focusing on other targets.

Chris Wheatley, Goal, and Ryan Taylor all confirm that Raphinha is Arsenal’s next target as they finalise the Jesus deal, along with a potential move for Lisandro Martinez.

Thiago Fernandes of Goal Brazil (via Eduardo Hagn) reports that whilst Barcelona were Raphinha’s first-choice option, they’re most likely ruled out – leaving Arsenal and Spurs.

Raphinha would reportedly like to work under Mikel Arteta, giving Arsenal an edge.

Arsenal are clearly looking to go big this summer, with Fabio Vieira and Marquinhos already joining, Gabriel Jesus and Matt Turner to follow, and further targets like Raphinha and Lisandro Martinez. Even Youri Tielemans isn’t off the table.

Getting the Jesus and Turner deals done and following them up with one or two more would leave the squad in a great position for the new season.
