Arsenal have made contact with Jarrod Bowen’s representatives over a potential summer transfer, as an apparent alternative to Raphinha.

The Beautiful Game Podcast, who broke the news of Arsenal’s interest in Tammy Abraham last summer, report that the Gunners have made contact with Jarrod Bowen’s representatives over a transfer.

This follows reports from earlier this week suggesting Arsenal are interested in Raphinha, and it appears Bowen is an alternative to the Brazilian on Mikel Arteta’s summer shortlist.

25-year-old Bowen had an excellent season with West Ham United, scoring 18 goals and assisting 11 in all competitions.

That included a couple of goals against Lyon in the Europa League quarter-finals as West Ham reached the semis.

Bowen’s form has earned him his recent call-up to the England squad, and seemingly put him on Arsenal’s radar.

Just as with the potential Raphinha transfer, this deal seemingly hinged on a Nicolas Pepe departure.

If Pepe leaves, then there’s room to sign one of the two as a replacement. If he sticks around, it’s hard to see Arsenal adding a third right-winger to a squad that already has Bukayo Saka as well.

Unlike Raphinha and Pepe, Bowen obviously brings the benefits of homegrown status. Arsenal aren’t stacked with senior homegrown players, so that would certainly help. But you’d imagine West Ham will demand a large fee.
