Football.London report that Omari Hutchinson is the subject of interest from various clubs in England and abroad, including Championship side Reading.

Reading are currently confident of securing a loan move for the winger.

Hutchinson is one of the stars of the latest batch of Arsenal youngsters, and he scored 10 goals and assisted seven for Kevin Betsy’s u23/u21 teams this season.

Given it was the winger’s first campaign at this level, his goal output was impressive. The 18-year-old doesn’t seem to be fazed by stepping up to a new challenge, as we saw in his tidy cameo for the first team in pre-season.

If anything, Hutchinson’s goal contributions ended up lower than they could have been as he was a victim of his own success, missing u23 games so he could instead train with the senior side.

As of today, the England u19 international has made Mikel Arteta’s matchday squad on 10 occasions, though he’s yet to appear on the pitch.

Hutchinson undoubtedly has a big future if he’s managed correctly, and it seems like the right time for him to start getting some exposure to senior football on the pitch.

But Arsenal would probably be smart to take some time to consider their options.

A Championship loan certainly isn’t a bad idea, but Reading only narrowly avoided relegation this season due to Derby County’s points deductions.

On the one hand, that makes it pretty likely that Hutchinson could get regular minutes with them next season.

On the other, you don’t want to send him to a side that spend most of their time defending where he’ll struggle to get involved in the play.

A creative and skilful player who is also a goal threat, it’s certainly no surprise that Hutchinson isn’t short of suitors.
