Mika Biereth has been one of the standout players of Arsenal’s u23 side this campaign, and his most recent performances have been recognised with a nomination for Premier League 2 Player of the Month.

Biereth is on an eight-man shortlist alongside Jack Bearne (Liverpool), Lewis Brunt (Leicester City), Liam Delap (Manchester City), Alejandro Garnacho (Manchester United), Cole Palmer (Manchester City), Sony Perkins (West Ham United), and Crysencio Summerville (Leeds United).

The nominees are determined through votes from opposition club coaches, so it’s always nice to see Arsenal players getting some external recognition.

Biereth scored three goals in three games in April, bagging a brace against Manchester City and another goal against Manchester United.

That brought him up to 14 goals in all competitions this season, as well as nine assists.

Biereth only joined Arsenal from Fulham over the summer, and he hardly had an u23 appearance to his name when he made the move. So the ease with which he’s adapted to a new club and a new level of football has been impressive.

The Denmark u19 international now appears to be ready to make the step up to senior football with a loan move next campaign. A Player of the Month nomination in the final month of the season will do nothing to hurt any interest in him.
