Bayern Munich have made one final contract offer to Serge Gnabry, which he is yet to accept, and they’ll look to sell him if he turns it down.
Speaking to Caught Offside, Fabrizio Romano reports that Bayern Munich have been in contract talks with Serge Gnabry since October, and in recent days they’ve offered him a new deal worth around €10m net per season – so that’s €19m before tax.
This is consistent with a report from Kicker (via iMiaSanMia) giving the same pre-tax figure of €19m. Kicker report that Bayern want a yes or no answer, and they’ll sell him if he says no.
Fabrizio Romano claims Gnabry hasn’t yet accepted the offer, and Bayern have no plans to go beyond it. His current deal expires in 2023.
For the record, Romano also adds that neither Arsenal nor Real Madrid have submitted an offer for Gnabry yet. Real reportedly discussed it internally in February, but they’re focusing on Aurelien Tchouameni right now.
€19m annual wages comes to around £311k-a-week, so it would be a significant investment for Arsenal to match that.
That’s if Gnabry would even accept that figure, which we don’t know yet.
BILD report that on top of those wages, Bayern Munich’s asking price for Gnabry would be €40m (£34m) this summer.
So it’s roughly a £115m investment for a five-year deal with little resale value for a player who would be 32 by the end of the contract.
In 45 appearances for Bayern in 2021/22, Gnabry has reached 17 goals and eight assists, most recently scoring in the game that won them their 10th consecutive Bundesliga title.
For the German national team, where he plays centrally more regularly, Gnabry has 20 goals in 31 appearances.
