Arsenal have reportedly made enquiries about Memphis Depay, with Barcelona seemingly willing to let the forward go this summer.

ABC (via Sport Witness) report that Barcelona are planning to include Memphis Depay in their list of transferable players this summer, and Arsenal are listed as one his suitors.

Depay’s contract expires in 2023, and Arsenal have reportedly made enquiries over him. Barcelona are hoping to cash in while they have the chance.

The 28-year-old only moved to Barcelona last summer, joining on a free transfer from Lyon. He’s scored 13 goals and assisted two in 37 appearances for the club, a goal contribution every 165 minutes.

Depay can perhaps count himself unlucky with injuries, suffering consecutive injuries to his hamstring and his Achilles tendon directly after scoring four goals in five league games.

Things all seemed to be going pretty well before that first hamstring injury, at least in the league.

The Champions League was more disappointing, as Depay blanked in his six appearances in Barcelona’s group stage campaign as they were eliminated from the competition.

It seems likely Arsenal go for at least one experienced forward this summer, rather than betting solely on younger options. At the moment, the links to Depay are somewhat tenuous, but he could fit the bill.
