Garth Crooks selected both Bukayo Saka and Eddie Nketiah for the BBC’s Premier League Team of the Week based on the most recent round of fixtures, with the pair scoring a couple of goals each in big wins.

Crooks argues Saka showed he has the courage to go with his immense talent after taking on two penalties in two games, becoming the youngest player in Premier League history to score spot-kicks in consecutive appearances.

As for Nketiah, Crooks praised his pace and finishing for his goal against Chelsea, adding: “Nketiah was outstanding against Chelsea in midweek and led the Arsenal line against Manchester United like a senior pro days later”.

Nketiah was unlucky to miss out on a goal against United as well, after he was ruled marginally offside. Fortunately, Saka was on hand to convert the subsequent penalty for a foul in the build-up.

Saka also helped to force the first goal against Manchester United, with a tricky David de Gea save from Saka’s shot falling to Nuno Tavares for a tap-in.

The former Arsenal academy pair could hardly have chosen a better time to put in a couple of big performances, and Mikel Arteta now needs a few more from them before the end of the season.
