Dani Ceballos’ Real Madrid adventure will finally come to an end this summer when he will be sold permanently.
Dani Ceballos’ time at Arsenal was not memorable.
In fact, most people forget that he was an Arsenal player for two years until he’s mentioned.
Signing for Real Madrid from Real Betis for £14.85m in 2017, Ceballos played 77 times for Arsenal (scoring two and assisting five) but has only played 66 times for his parent club (with five goals and three assists).
Now, a return to Real Betis seems to on the cards for the 25-year-old who has played for just 99 minutes this season across 10 games.
Of course, Ceballos went into the season with a bad injury that he’d picked up at the Olympics.
Ceballos suffered a complete tear in his anterior talofibular and calcaneofibular ankle ligaments when he was on the end of an horrific tackle during the opening game of the Japan Games against Egypt.
Still, he’s been fit for most of 2022 and has not yet managed to make himself important in any way to Carlo Ancelotti.
Ceballos has been determined to make it at Real Madrid but reports in Spain claim he will leave this summer and, thankfully, at the time of writing at least, Arsenal are not being linked with a move for him.
Real Betis, Valencia and Jose Mourinho at Roma, who were said to be keen in January, are all said to be interested.
Long may Arsenal’s name continue to not be mentioned.
