Arsene Wenger looked totally gobsmacked when he was informed that Mike Dean had called him the most intimidating manager he ever refereed.

Arsenal fans the world over could be forgiven for wondering what nonsense Mike Dean was talking when he said that Arsene Wenger was more frightening to referee than Sir Alex Ferguson.

The decisions he made on the pitch when he took charge of Arsenal games, particularly those against United, would certainly say otherwise.

On pundit duty with Bein sports, Richard Keyes informed Wenger of Dean’s comments.

Wenger’s face said more than his words ever could.

wenger dean bein sports“Is somebody behind me? Are you making jokes?,” Wenger said at first, before making a face that showed he clearly didn’t believe a single thing Mike Dean had said.

“I am not very proud of that,” he laughed before he was asked about the time Mike Dean sent him off at Old Trafford for kicking a water bottle and he ended up in teh stands amongst the Manchester United faithful.

“He [Dean] still doesn’t know why [he sent me off at Old Trafford],” Wenger said.

“I didn’t know where to go, nobody told me where I could go.

“When I went up, they told me I had to go to the stand. When I arrived in the stand, of course there was no free seat.

“So, I had a double problem. First of all, I didn’t know why I was sent off, nobody could explain it to me because they apologised after that but as well I didn’t know where to go.”
