Arsenal’s Jordi Osei-Tutu’s injury problems don’t seem to be giving him a break with the defender now on crutches, with his foot in a boot, after Rotherham United’s game against Portsmouth.

23-year-old Jordi Osei-Tutu’s season looks to be over after the right-back suffered a serious injury earlier this week that left him needing crutches.

Hamstring injuries have plagued Osei-Tutu’s young career to this point, ruining a loan with Cardiff City, where he missed 33 games and Nottingham Forest where he missed 19.

An ankle injury also ruled him out for over two months, eating into the start of his loan with Rotherham.

Now, he faces an indefinite period on the sidelines after picking up a foot injury.

Speaking after the game against Portsmouth, which Osei-Tutu started before being taken off in the second have, Rotherham manager, Paul Warne said, “Jordi is on crutches and a boot as we speak, I thought he’d broken his foot at first.

“We’ll have to see how he is, but it doesn’t look good.”

The news comes not long after Osei-Tutu scored a vital goal to help Rotherham pick up the EFL Trophy at Wembley.

The game didn’t immediately go to plan for Osei-Tutu nor Rotherham, as he was named on the bench and former Arsenal academy product, Craig Eastmond, gave Sutton a 2-1 lead in the 48th minute.

But Osei-Tutu got his chance with 10 minutes to go, coming off the bench to try and rescue the match.

The Arsenal youngster did just that, scoring a dramatic 96th-minute goal to level things up.

Picking up a loose ball in the box on his right foot, Osei-Tutu pulled the ball into his path and onto his weaker left. He then powered a finish into the top corner, with the aid of a slight deflection, to send the Rotherham fans wild.

The goal sent the game to extra time, in which Rotherham scored twice more to secure the trophy and the first medawasl of Osei-Tutu’s career.

“It’s probably the biggest highlight of my career so far,” Osei-Tutu said afterwards. “First of all, playing at Wembley, [in] such a good tournament.

“Credit to the boys, credit to Sutton as well for pushing us right until the end. I think the boys showed great determination and managed to pull through at the end.”

It’s certainly a moment Osei-Tutu will remember, and was a big positive after a difficult few years with injuries and disrupted loan spells.

Now, however, he is back in the treatment room.
