Arsenal are planning to make two marquee signings this summer, but they may bring in other players on top of those two deals.

Speaking to ESPN’s Joao Castelo-Branco, Arsenal technical director Edu said: “We’re gonna focus on signing one or two players. After last summer’s revolution, we need the next step. We have our strategy ready.”

Castelo-Branco has clarified that he doesn’t believe Edu meant Arsenal would only make two signings, but that the focus would be on a couple of major signings rather than a spread of younger players like in 2021.

As for those two signings, the same reporter adds that they’ve already been planned and approved by the Arsenal owners.

We don’t have any confirmation on names just yet, though it looks like Gabriel Jesus could be one of them.

The Manchester City striker has been strongly linked to Arsenal in the last week, and he seems like the club’s primary target right now.

You’d hope the other would be a midfielder, as that’s probably the other main area of concern for Arsenal.

When Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka are both available, it’s not such an issue, but remove just one of them and suddenly the team are scrambling to patch things together.

Mikel Arteta needs at least one more strong and experienced midfield option he can call upon, ideally someone who can even break into the starting lineup.
