Arsenal face competition for Florian Grillitsch’s signature from Leeds United and Newcastle United as they look to add some depth to their squad.

Arsenal are on the hunt for a number of players this summer, one of whom will be a midfielder.

They are now being linked with Florian Grillitsch who is out of contract this summer and therefore available at a price Arsenal really like – free.

A defensive midfielder, Grillitsch is also able to slot in at centreback, giving him the versatility Mikel Arteta is looking for in his new recruits as a means of keeping the squad as tight as possible (there’ll be other, tactical reasons too, obviously, but at present it seems that it is just a way of keeping wages down).

Grillitsch will turn 27 at the start of the new season and the Austrian international could well end up in the Premier League this summer, although how concrete Arsenal’s interest is in the player is is not clear at this point.

Grillitsch is represented by Aaron Ramsey’s former agency, ICM Stellar Sports, headed up by Jonathan Barnett.

They also handle Kieran Tierney, Rob Holding, Jack Grealish, Eduardo Camavinga, Luke Shaw, Ben Chillwell, James Ward-Prowse, Ibrahima Konate, Patrick Bamford, and a host of others.
