The Daily Mail report that Arsenal have joined the race to sign West Bromwich Albion youngster Reyes Cleary, who is yet to agree terms with West Bromwich Albion.

The Gunners join Newcastle, Everton, and Bayern Munich in pursuing Cleary. The teenager has been offered a professional contract with West Brom, but he’s yet to sign.

It’s not hard to guess how Clearly might have caught Arsenal’s attention.

The 17-year-old scored home and away against the Arsenal u23s in the Premier League Cup group stage this season, so he made himself hard to ignore.

A centre-forward, Cleary has taken plenty of other victims this season, scoring more than 25 goals between the various u18 and u23 competitions he’s appeared in.

It’s also worth mentioning that Arsenal have already made one signing from West Brom this season, bringing in Lino Sousa in the January transfer window.

Arsenal may be on the lookout for a new youth centre-forward this summer, given the movement in the position over the last few months.

Folarin Balogun has gone out on loan, and you’d expect him to move on another loan next season. Mika Biereth could also do with a loan, whilst Amani Richards has left for Leicester City and Khayon Edwards’ contract is running down.

It’s very possible none of the four are still with Arsenal next season, leaving an opening up front for the u23s.

Perhaps that will help Arsenal sell themselves to Cleary as the teenager makes his decision.
