Aston Villa will listen to offers for Ollie Watkins this summer amid interest from Arsenal, according to a report.

Football Insider report that Ollie Watkins is on Arsenal’s shortlist of striker targets this summer, and a source claims Aston Villa are open to offers.

Steven Gerrard isn’t convinced that Watkins is the striker his team needs, whilst Arsenal reportedly believe the England international could be a good fit.

Watkins is a hard worker and a very capable player in many areas outside of goals and assists.

But as so often with so-called “well-rounded” strikers, that seems to come at the detriment of his actual goalscoring.

The 26-year-old has just six league goals this season, and he’s not making up for that on the assist front, given he only has one.

Aston Villa aren’t having a particularly strong season, so maybe Watkins would do better in a better team. Or maybe he’s part of their problem.

Watkins has been linked with Arsenal a couple of times already this season, first as a replacement for Alexandre Lacazette, then Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Though it’s worth noting that Watkins has generally only been given as one name on a list. There don’t seem to be any outlets suggesting Watkins is the priority target this summer.

That could change as the situation progresses and various other targets become more or less available/desirable.
