After a couple of wins on the bounce were halted by a defeat to West Bromwich Albion last time out, Dan Micciche’s Arsenal u18 side were looking to get back to winning ways away to Brighton on Saturday.

The big news before the game was the return of Zane Monlouis after injury, and he took on the captain’s armband for the match.

With Khayon Edwards out for the season, Billy Vigar was leading the line, whilst Matheus Roberts’ strong recent form was rewarded with a start.

It was those two that linked up for the opening goal of the game, with Roberts assisting Vigar for 1-0, not long before half time.

Monlouis came off for Michal Rosiak early in the second half, hopefully more as a precaution than a recurrence of his old injury.

Micciche then brought on Ismail Oulad M’hand and Kaleel Green with his other two changes before the hour mark.

Green signed for the Arsenal academy last year, but after making a good early impression in pre-season he’s struggled to break into the side.

So it was encouraging to see the young forward getting on the scoresheet, doubling Arsenal’s lead in the 69th minute.

Just as Arsenal looked to be heading for a comfortable victory, Billie Clark scored in the 72nd minute to reignite the game’s jeopardy.

Fortunately, late-goal expert Charles Sagoe Jr was on hand with yet another to make it 3-1, set up by Tino Quamina.

This season, the Sagoe Jr has now scored an 85th-minute equaliser vs Fulham, a 92nd-minute winner vs Newport County, a 94th-minute winner vs Aston Villa, an 81st-minute goal vs Brighton, and a 73rd-minute goal vs West Ham that set up a two-goal comeback.

With that, Arsenal secured the three points to head into the international break in the right way.
