After just one substitute appearance for Sheffield Wednesday, Arsenal loanee Tyreece John-Jules looks set for a period out through injury.

Sheffield outlet The Star report that Tyreece John-Jules is facing a long spell out with a new injury.

The Arsenal loan striker has picked up a quad injury that is expected to rule him out for at least a few weeks.

John-Jules only joined Sheffield Wednesday towards the end of the January transfer window, and he’s only made one appearance for the club so far – an 18-minute substitute showing against Ipswich Town.

The hope was that reuniting with Wednesday boss Darren Moore, who John-Jules worked under at Doncaster Rovers, would help the 20-year-old to play more regularly.

The striker only made eight league starts in his last loan spell with Blackpool FC, and none of them came after October 16th. He had to spend a few months not even making the squad before Arsenal recalled and reloaned him in January.

Perhaps it was inevitable that a few months out of competitive action followed by a quick return to the pitch could lead to some injury problems.

It’s the apparent seriousness of the injury that’s particularly concerning, with The Star emphasising John-Jules will likely be out for an extended period.

For now, it’s too early to guess at an injury return date, but we’ll keep you updated when any further information emerges.
