Lucas Torreira managed to shake off a knock to return to action with Fiorentina immediately this weekend, as speculation about his future continues.

Lucas Torreira was forced off the pitch with a knock after just 38 minutes against Atalanta last weekend, sparking fears of an injury layoff.

Yet Torreira was immediately back in the squad for their game this weekend against Sassuolo. He dropped to the bench at first, before coming on for a late substitute cameo.

The fact they didn’t feel safe starting him suggests he’s not 100%, but returning to the squad without missing a game is a very positive sign.

Italian outlet La Nazione report that Fiorentina are planning to make both Lucas Torreira and Krzysztof Piatek’s deals permanent this summer, an outlay of €30m between the two.

Though Arsenal are disappointed at the sale of Dusan Vlahovic to Juventus, they aren’t expected to hold that against Fiorentina.

Torreira has been a regular in the Fiorentina side in Serie A this season, making 22 league appearances with a few months of the campaign still left to play.

The Uruguay international has made himself a popular figure in Florence, and his agent confirms the club now want to buy him.

“Fiorentina want to buy him on a permanent deal, Torreira is playing very well in Florence,” Pablo Bentancur told Sport890.

“He is the same player who used to be, dynamic and consistent.

“Torreira is happy in Florence, he is one of the best players there.”

Repubblica recently reported that qualification for European competition is a prerequisite for the completion of Torreira’s permanent transfer to Fiorentina.

Arsenal agreed to a €15m option to buy with Fiorentina at the start of the season, which seems like good value at the moment.

If Torreira’s loan side qualify for European competition, there’s no reason to expect they won’t activate it.
