All Nigeria Soccer report that Brian Okonkwo has been offered a scholarship deal with Arsenal for the 2022/23 season. The 16-year-old currently plays for the club’s academy as a schoolboy.

Arsenal fans will be more familiar with Arthur Okonkwo, who received a promotion to the first-team squad as Mikel Arteta’s third-choice goalkeeper this season.

20-year-old Arthur has made six appearances in Premier League squads this season, and he captained the u23s against Leicester City last week.

Brian is also a goalkeeper, and he made his first appearance in an Arsenal u18 squad in September for a cup match.

U18 head coach Dan Micciche has since called him up for his first league game, making the bench this week against Reading.

Given he only recently turned 16 and Arsenal have plenty of youth goalkeepers right now, it’s still very early for the younger Okonkwo to be making consistent u18 appearances.

But the club clearly believe he’s heading that way in the future, and they’re giving him the chance to join next season’s scholarship intake as a result.
