The round yielded no upsets, although one of the top Championship teams, Durham ran close losing only 1-0 to the FA WSL bottom team Birmingham.

There will be six FA WSL sides in the hat: Arsenal, Birmingham City, Chelsea, Everton, Manchester City and West Ham.

One Championship side will also be there, in Coventry United who are currently bottom of the table thanks to their last minute rescue from dissolution.

There is also a third tier team as Ipswich beat another third tier team Southampton on penalties.

Jonas Eidevall had made a very logical choice with his starting XI against Liverpool, picking players that did not go on international duty: Lydia Williams, Steph Catley, Lia Walti, Kim Little, Mana Iwabuchi and Caitlin Foord.

It make sense as they were rested for 10 days and had ample time to work together in training.

Alongside them were Noelle Maritz, Leah Williamson and Rafaelle Sousa in defence. Katie McCabe and Nikita Parris were selected in attack with the Irish winger in her normal position instead of at left-back.

Beth Mead was rested, Laura Wienroither did not make the bench, while Fran Stenson the third goalkeeper did.

Rotation-wise it was the perfect game as the three defenders that went on international duty all got subbed in during the 58th minute.

It was good to see that the Arsenal manager had the luxury of leaving Vivianne Miedema and Stina Blackstenius on the bench, keeping them fresh for the league games on Wednesday against Reading and Sunday against Birmingham.

Arsenal scored two superb goals through Katie McCabe and Caitlin Foord.

It was a poor header by Kiernan to set up McCabe and the Liverpool defence did not align themselves properly on the Foord goal.

Those two finishes were superb though.

The quarter-finals draw will be made on Tuesdday on BBC One at 9.15am.

The obvious best draws are Coventry and Ipswich, while it would be better to avoid Chelsea and Manchester City, for sure.
