Gabriel Magalhaes has been called up by Brazil for their international fixtures over the Premier League winter break, starting this month.

The Brazilian national team Twitter account (CBF Futebol) has confirmed that Gabriel Magalhaes is in their squad for the upcoming internationals at the end of the month.

Brazil face Ecuador on January 27th and Paraguay on February 2nd in World Cup qualifiers, though their record in the first 13 games of qualification has already guaranteed them a spot in this year’s tournament.

The internationals coincide with the Premier League’s winter break, so Arsenal don’t have any fixtures for Gabriel to miss. On the other hand, he will lose out on the opportunity to have a few days off.

It’s likely Takehiro Tomiyasu will be in the same boat, given Japan have World Cup qualifiers against China and Saudi Arabia on January 27th and February 1st.

At the time of writing, Japan’s squad hasn’t been confirmed, but Tomiyasu is a key part of their backline, so he’s sure to receive a call-up.

Arsenal’s unfortunate early exit from the FA Cup means the duo will have at least a few days to recover from their travels before the game against Wolves on February 10th.
