AFCON is underway and on Monday, Thomas Partey’s Ghana and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s Gabon played to mixed fortunes.

There was no Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for Gabon as they won 1-0 against Comoros thanks to a 16 minute goal from Aaron Salem Boupenza, who plays for Al-Arabi.

Aubameyang, who is supposed to be in isolation after contracting Covid in Dubai, posted a picture of himself in an Arsenal shirt, clearly not in isolation:

Thomas Partey, meanwhile, started, and was subbed in the 90th minute, as Ghana lost 1-0 against Morocco.

He was replaced by a centreforward, so hopefully that was simply a tactics as they chased the game change rather than any sort of problem.

Mohamed Elneny and Egypt get their tournament underway today (Tuesday) against Nigeria while Nicolas Pepe and Ivory Coast are in action against Equatorial Guinea on Wednesday.
