The Athletic report that testing on Saturday revealed another positive Covid-19 test in the Arsenal camp. The player has remained unnamed, but he joins Martin Odegaard on the sidelines with the virus.

Nick Ames reports that “at least” one more Arsenal player has joined Odegaard in returning a positive Covid-19 test.

Arsenal have now had 12 first-team players out with Covid since December 21st, with another one or two missing every week over that period.

Up until now, Arsenal had avoided having to postpone any games, but the combination of injuries to a stretched squad and AFCON absences left them without 13 outfield players for the North London derby.

The concern now is how many players will return in time for the League Cup semi-final second leg next Thursday.

At the very least, Arsenal need to get back a midfielder or two – namely Emile Smith Rowe and Odegaard.

If the new Covid cases come in a position of particular scarcity, such as right-wing or right-back, Arsenal could find it very difficult to name a team again on Thursday.
