Jonathan David will not be moving this month despite Arsenal reportedly being interested in the forward who was recently spotted wearing a Thierry Henry shirt.
Reported Arsenal target Jonathan David was pictured wearing a Thierry Henry shirt recently, setting tongues wagging after his agent admitted he’ll be on the move this summer.
Amid all the rumours about Jonathan David’s future, he sparked Arsenal social media into life with a picture (above) of himself wearing a Thierry Henry shirt.
Speaking to Radio Canada in a recent podcast, David’s agent Nick Mavromaras says the player will finish the current campaign with Lille, but he’s on the way out after that.
“For us, the goal is to finish the season with Lille, but this will be his last season there for several reasons,” Mavromaras said.
“I think the Premier League is a great option for him. I think he likes Spain a lot too…
“These two leagues are the main priorities for him, but nothing is being ruled out.
“You never know with Paris Saint-Germain or the big Italian clubs. It’s normal that all these big clubs are interested in the top scorer in Ligue 1, but I can tell you that, today, there’s no official offer.”
This all follows the Evening Standard’s report that Arsenal are scouting a number of different options up front, with David on their shortlist.
Goal report that Arsenal are long-term admirers of David, and mention Arsenal’s strong relationship with the French club, following the deals for Gabriel Magalhaes and Nicolas Pepe.
The Gunners do have other options on the table, with a lot of talk about Dominic Calvert-Lewin in recent months.
It’s pretty clear they’ll be in for a striker in the summer, we just don’t know which one yet.
22-year-old David has made a strong start to life in France, scoring 16 goals so far this season.
Three of those came from the penalty spot, but 13 open-play goals is still a good record for this point in the campaign.
The Canadian international has also been prolific for his country, scoring 18 and assisting 10 in his 24 international appearances.
