There’s a genuine possibility Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could leave Arsenal in January, with Barcelona interested in a loan move.

ESPN report that sources claim there’s a genuine chance Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could leave Arsenal in January.

The same report suggests that as things stand, it’s more likely that Aubameyang’s time away from the team reinforces the idea they should part ways, rather than inspiring another chance.

ESPN claim Juventus are emerging as an option alongside Barcelona, but it’s not clear whether they or any other club will be willing to ‘take a punt’ on the striker’s wages.

The Daily Mail seem surer about the interest from Barcelona. They claim the Catalan side are in the market for forwards after Sergio Aguero’s retirement, and they’re eyeing up a loan for Aubameyang.

Reports in the last few days suggest Newcastle United could also be interested, what with their recent change in ownership and struggles to escape the relegation zone.

The striker has also reportedly been offered out to AC Milan, Inter Milan, and AS Roma, but it’s not clear if the Italian sides are interested.

At his best, Aubameyang obviously brings a tonne of goals, so he could be an excellent investment for the right club. But he’s getting older and he hasn’t been in such great goalscoring form for the last year or so.

It’s not hard to believe that a number of top clubs might consider Aubameyang as an option, it’s just also easy to see where their reservations will stem from. So I wouldn’t draw any conclusions on the forward’s future just yet.
