Gabriel Martinelli was delighted to score a brace and help Arsenal defeat Leeds United 4-1 to stretch their lead in fourth place to four points.

Gabriel Martinelli scored a brace for the first time in the Premier League against Leeds United at Elland Road on Saturday as his purple patch continues in front of goal.

The Brazilian opened the scoring for Arsenal in the first half after just 16 minutes.

“It was a very good result,” Martinelli told Sky Sports after the final whistle.

“It was away and so important for the team, of course, all the team played well and so happy with the work, and the result, as well.

“This is what Mikel asks of us, every time we go to the final third to be dangerous.

“It was a great pass from Granit [for the first goal], thanks to him as well. It was two good goals.

“The whole team enjoyed [the second goal], not just me.

“We have a young team, but a very strong team with young players, you say today Emile came from the bench and scored and I’m so happy.”

Martinelli went into this game having scored two league goals all season. He doubled that tally in 90 minutes, making it three goals in his last two games.

He now has a total of 16 goals for Arsenal, along with nine assists.

Martinelli finished the game against Leeds with a 100% shot accuracy rating whilst he also made three recoveries and two interceptions.
