New Jersey writer Brian Sciaretta initially reported that Colorado Rapids winger Dantouma Toure was doing offseason training with multiple European teams, writing that the player spent time with Rangers before linking up with Arsenal.

That’s since been confirmed by members of the Arsenal u18s, posting pictures on Instagram with Toure in training.

U18 star striker Khayon Edwards posted a picture with Toure (above) captioned “winning team”, so it sounds like things are going well for the Rapids teenager.

Toure was born in Guinea, but he’s represented the U.S. u17 national team as he continues his development over in the States.

Until this year, Toure was playing for the New York Red Bulls, featuring for their second team given his age. But he signed for Colorado Rapids this year, and spent last campaign on loan with Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC.

That obviously goes some way to explaining the time he’s spending with Arsenal, given Arsenal and the Colorado Rapids both have the same owner.

Toure isn’t the first Rapids youngster to train with Arsenal. Cole Bassett spent a week with the u23s in 2019.

There’s always a chance that spells like this lead to permanent moves, if the player really impresses. But that’s clearly not the main goal of the trip.

Primarily, Toure is getting a taste of European football and getting some training hours in during the U.S. winter break.
